Rosalyn’s Emporium: Bespoke jeweller & tutor for Make Your Own wedding rings couples workshop

Weddings have been thrown up in the air for 2020. Couples are left to make difficult choices about what they can plan & keep for their day.

One thing that every couple will still need for their wedding day, regardless of when, where & how it will take place is wedding rings. This is where Roz from Rosalyn’s Emporium, Bespoke Jewellery can make the experience a joyful one no matter what your situation is.

Roz Prest, owner of Rosalyn’s Emporium has over 20 years experience designing, making & selling jewellery. In 2016 she established her own business specializing in ‘Make Your Own wedding ring’ workshops for couples. These private, covid 19 compliant sessions are booked in advance & tailored to suit each couple.

This unique business has 3 key services which are;

‘Make Your Own’, Commissions & Recycling.

These services can be combined or used singularly to create your ultimate wedding jewellery & lasting memories.

Roz shares her expert advice on wedding ring planning & trends with you.

Wedding ring planning:

Start to think about wedding rings at least 6 months ahead of your planned wedding date. This ensures plenty of time to fit in a bespoke service or make your own workshop. Rings can be made or commissioned with shorter time frames but some aspects may be compromised such as engraving or stone setting. These can still be done after the wedding but you would be without the rings for a while which doesn’t suit everyone.

Wedding ring trends:

For inspiration please read through the key trends Roz has picked out for you.

Make Your Own:

Yes we really do mean make them yourself!

Private couple workshops aimed at complete beginners. You will be taken through each step of making your very own rings from bars of precious metal.

“Will I mess it up?” is the most common worry & no, I will not let you. The vast majority of wedding rings can be made entirely or partly by the couple themselves. Metals available are any gold, platinum, palladium & silver. This also includes using clients’ own recycled gold. Tailor made for you & by you….find out more

Ethical & sentimental:

Recycling your own gold to make wedding rings can be the most personal, ethical & sentimental way to commemorate loved ones & remember them every day. Only hallmarked yellow gold can be recycled at present but if you have another metal type with diamonds or gems in, we might be able to use the stones but not the metal. Sometimes it is beneficial to scrap your metal & put that cost towards the rings.

I also purchase 100% recycled gold so even ‘new’ wedding rings are made with ethical & sustainably sourced metals. Find out more here!

Stone set:

Making your own wedding rings does not mean you have to go without some extra sparkles. Using Hatton Garden suppliers & trained experts Roz can source & have set the stones of your choice. This does not just mean diamonds either. Lots of couples are choosing other stones & gems to add colour, meaning or reach a certain budget. Ask Roz for advice.

Shaped / fitted:

With a lot of couples choosing antique or unusually shaped engagement rings there can be a need for a shaped wedding ring.

‘V’ shaped wishbone is by far the most flexible & versatile shape to fit against a multitude of engagement rings whilst also looking good on it’s own. With or without stones this style is a true classic already.

If you want something that matches much closer you may need a ring that’s cut into so it fits neatly against the profile of the engagement ring.

Engraving:

With a choice of machine, hand or laser engraved there is something for everyone. From a simple initial & wedding date inside the rings which only you know about, to elaborate designs & even your own fingerprints.

Engraving can dramatically change & personalise your wedding rings. Combine with stone setting for the ultimate embellished rings.

Less is more:

For many reasons a simpler wedding ring can be just what you need. Perhaps you work with your hands or can’t have stones in your ring so you need something simple & plain. Knowing that you made the rings yourselves or had them made for you can really add meaning to something that is simpler to look at. Plain metal rings can still be made unique by adding texture or a satin finish.

Unique & bespoke:

Intricate & highly detailed rings often need an extra level of service involved hand drawn or computer aided design (CAD) sketches, 3D printed or wax carved models prior to having the metal version made.

These extra processes ensure the design is perfect for you before investing in precious metals or stones. It can be hard to imagine something when you can’t see or feel it. For more information about a bespoke commission service please look here

Other wedding jewellery:

Engagement rings:

Rosalyn’s Emporium offers a full design & make service for engagement rings. Budgets ranging from £600+ can be accommodated.

Engagement rings can also be remodelled, altering the shape or adding extra stones can really transform something.

Wedding day jewellery:

From pearl stringing to diamond jewellery I can create something for you to wear for the day & treasure for a lifetime.

Lockdown Wedmin 2.0

No I know I gave you some inspo on wedmin tasks you could do the last lockdown, but here is a few ideas this time round.

  1. Perfect your Pintrest boards – what more could you want cosied up on the sofa, hot chocolate (marshmallows and cream not optional) and hours of pinning those wedding dreams
  2. Create your own wedding website – a great way to keep guests updated (things do move somewhat fast around here) You can even create a free easy to use website on Hitched, here
  3. Write your vows – a task some may love, and some may not but perhaps lockdown has made you realise how lucky you are to have each other, or has provided a hilarious anecdote for the speeches!

4. Get creative with your wedding shoes! – Last time i told you to wear in your wedding shoes, it will help with blisters, but how about getting your calligraphy pens out and writing a message on the sole of your shoes.

5. Practice your First Dance – hey i’m going to want to see some Strictly worthy routines next year!

6. Order your wedding cake to the front door – I’ve seen a lot of wonderful wedding cake creators offering this throughout lockdown. Why not have your cake for breakfast!

7. Make a fantastic Spotify playlist – Romantic instrumentals for the ceremony, some smooth jazz for the drink reception, and some dance all nighters for later. Then why not dance all day to the playlist, you’ll get your steps up!

8. Plan your guest list (plural) – Let’s be honest, we may find ourselves in a predicament with a limit on our guest list. Why not take some time to work out your smaller and larger ideal numbers. It may hurt a little but it will help you too.

9. Stalk our Real Weddings! – We have hundereds and hundreds of weddings under our belt now and we know what works. Why not pick our brains on some ideas or scroll through Instagram – our tagged page has lots of hidden gems too!

10. DATE NIGHT – During this quite frankly bizarre time it is easy to get stressed and being cooped up inside can be hard. Make sure you dedicate a night for you as a couple. Get dressed up and have a fancy dinner (or pizza), build a den and watch a movie. Camp in your garden. Take a picnic to your local woodland. So many ideas, let me know what you get up to!

As always, Alexis x

Lockdown 2.0

Goodbyes are not forever, goodbyes are not the end.

They simply mean i’ll miss you, until we meet again.

As we turn off the lights, close all the curtains and lock all the doors, today we say goodbye once more. Lockdown 2.0 as it has been dubbed on social media is yet another time of great sadness for so many, especially those intending to marry in this time. We know that this isn’t going to be the easiest time for anyone but we also know it will not last forever.

Keep watching this space for some inspiration and fun in the coming weeks. I will be here for you, as I always am.

Love is in the Air

dreamy backdrops

Balloons! Now give me a minute, don’t write them off because they make you think of a three year old’s party! There are so many reasons to love these little puffs of air…

COUPLE PHOTOS – Ahh lovely. Jut the simplest of additions give you a different look to some of your newlyweds photos. You can by MR & MRS, MRS & MRS and MR & MR balloons for the fraction of the price of light up letters but for all of the photo wows.

BALLOON BACKDROPS – Do I even need to describe this one?! A backdrop to you, to your cake, to your ceremony. Endless opportunities.

DANCE FLOOR DECOR – Swirling around in hundreds of balloons, erm yes please (I didn’t know I wanted to do that until I worked in Events) The pops of colour make you stand out in your first dance and can add movement to the room. Whats not to like, it’s a photographers dream.

So who’s popping out for helium?

FAQ’s Answered

It can’t be helped, some questions we get all the time, but hopefully this will answer some of those burning Q’s in your mind!

Is there a payment schedule for our Wedding?

There is! To confirm your wedding with us we require a non-refundable deposit, a payment schedule is then sent to you on confirmation. The payment schedule includes a 6 month and 3 month prior installment & the final balance due 1 month before your special day. Should your confirmation fall within six months of your wedding date, a larger deposit will be required.

When are final details & numbers needed for our Wedding?

You will both be invited to attend a Wedding consultation either in person or via Facetime/Zoom with your Wedding coordinator on an agreed date two months prior to your Wedding where your day is gone through in detail. The majority of your final details are required on this date but your final numbers can be specified one month prior to your wedding date.

What time do I have access from prior to our Wedding?

Access is guaranteed from 10am the day of your Wedding but our busy bees may still be hoovering or setting up for you at that time. Where possible we will notify you of the possibility of earlier access but this will be confirmed to you the week prior to your Wedding.

Can we throw confetti?

Hell YEA, biodegradable confetti & real petals are permitted. However, any confetti thrown other than this (e.g. foil confetti, faux petals) will incur cleaning charges, boo!

Does the venue allow corkage?

Unfortunately we do not allow corkage or for you to consume your own beverages on site because we have such a fantastic range of pre-ordered drinks and drinks available at our bars! If there is a specific product you would like us to supply though please discuss the directly with your coordinator…. perhaps a fruity gin, or Great Aunt Tessy’s favorite whiskey.

Can we bring our dog? They are well behaved

You may not know but I am screaming YES! We adore nothing more than including your fur babies during the big day and rest assured they will get plenty of fuss from the team and I. We only ask that if they mess one of your party clean up as this isn’t a job for your waiters carrying your canpes!

Any other burning questions? Let me know,
